FESTIVALS AND SAINTS

It is no coincidence that in every corner of Kea will find a chapel. The residents at every opportunity organizefestivals like that of St. Haralambos is the patron saint of the island. With great solemnity celebrated on August 15 and Mary with a great feast in the monastery Kastriani. Festivals are also organized in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Anargyroi (30 June, Vourkari), Saint Sozon (7 September Otzias) and Transfiguration (6 August Poisses). If you are in Kea in August do not miss the Simonideia , cultural events were named by the poet Simonides of antiquity with origins from the island. Theatrical and musical performances, sports competitions and exhibitions for children and adults. The Tzioti Carnival is still a chance to visit the island of Kea. With gusto and enthusiasm, humor and imagination run theater and of course the parade on the last Sunday of Carnival, which ends in a traditional feast.
