Last weekend we had a first glimpse of summer on the island with temperatures varying from 20 to 30 degrees. A real blessing after the rainy winter we had this year in Greece. Kea was simply fantastic. Fields full of flowers, warm sunny weather and most of all no wind: we decided to head to the beach!
Schinos is located in the South Eastern part of Kea, in the region of Petroussa and is close to the southern lighthouse (cape Tamelos). It's roughly 30km from the port but you definitely need a 4x4 to get there: the dirt road at the end is steep and bumpy.
Schinos is a great beach if you want to be on your own. It is located in the most remote and arid part of the island and offers privacy even in the busy summer months.
On the other hand, you will also find remains of the old fish farm which can be seen as a picturesque thing to some or waste that ruins the scenery to others... Either way, there is only one spot on the beach that we recommend: far to the right. The spot is sandy, the view is splendid as you can see from the pic and the sea is crystal clear!
Don't forget to take plenty of sun screen, an umbrella and a thermos with cool water!
Enjoy!
