Sailing Race "Κea 2011"

This year the sailing race "Kea 2011" was held from friday 3/6 until sunday 5/6. Just like every year, the port of Vourkari and Livadi welcomed all the sailing boats and their crew, filling the area with life. Here are some pics taken on Sunday morning right at the start of the race.

Psili Ammos - Kea

Psili Ammos

“Thin Sand” is exactly what its name suggests…  For a starter it’s the only beach on the island with a sand hill! The sand is golden and the sea is crystal clear with turquoise hues. It’s as tropical as you can get in kea.

The only inconvenience is that there is no road to get there by car! So if you’re feeling adventurous there is one solution: drive to Kalidonichi and swim or walk to psili ammos. There is a small path that will get you from one beach to the other in less than 10min. Otherwise you can always opt for the “cooler” solution and swim across! It’s not particularly deep – max. 10 meters and as long as there is no wind it’s definitely an enjoyable swim!
Psili ammos is located in the eastern part of the island just passed the bay of spathi. To get there you need to drive to Ioulida (or Hora) head to Pera Meria and then go straight until you find the road sign indicating Kalidonichi. Turn left and then follow the road. At some point the road splits in two, keep on the left side and continue until you reach kalidonichi. The last part is a dirt road but any car can manage as long as you go slowly.
